PEMAA Soccer Policy!
Hi All, For the first time in PEMAA soccer history (which spans over 30 years) we find ourselves in the unfortunate position of needing to address escalating inappropriate and aggressive behaviour.  This past week, our U10 group was involved in events that do not align with our grass roots, recreational and FUN programs. Coaches and parents joined in the complicated dynamics which unintentionally, escalated the situation.

We NEED Coaches and parents support in imparting the message that soccer can be fun, fast, physical and safe, without crossing the line to kicking, punching, retaliating and fighting. PEMAA has always used young referees and provided a positive learning environment for those youth interested in growing their assertiveness skills.

On more than one occasion this season, our Refs have been called upon to manage situations beyond the scope of what we feel is a reasonable ask… for this reason, we have drafted a policy around aggression and discipline.  Coaches will be sent the policy and will be able to circulate amongst families over the next couple of days.

We implore each family to have meaningful conversation around sportsmanship and kindness.  Please join us in ensuring our program remains: fun, safe and inclusive.

Effective Immediately - there is a zero-tolerance policy around fighting … more specifics to follow!
