Dear Blackhawk Players and Families, 

PEMAA extends a warm welcome to both new and returning families participating in our 2016/2017 Hockey Season!.  We anticipate another exciting and successful season.  Your Parents Association is responsible for promoting effective communication between PEMAA, Coaches and co-ordinating fundraising efforts.  We are busy organizing team and individual photos and will soon begin planning the Year End banquet/award ceremony. 

This past summer, many of you helped us run the “Meat Raffles” at Two Amigos bar throughout the months of July and August.  This was a labour intensive venture that would not have been successful without the support of our dedicated PEMAA Board Members and hockey parents.  The revenue generated from previous years meat raffles was used to purchase new jerseys for all divisions and more recently, practice jerseys and updated Trainer bags and practice aids as well. 

Cash Box Pick Up and Drop off Location

This year, the Cash Box will once again be kept at the Point Variety (on Michigan Avenue across from the Park).  There will be a sign in/out sheet.  If you are assigned to the gate for a game, you will need to arrive at the arena one hour prior to game in order to catch the parents/fans from the opposing team.  As has been the case in prior years, Point Edward players and family members are not expected to pay an entry fee to cheer us on.  A float and directions are inside the cash box in case someone is unfamiliar with the task. Also, we do not collect any admission fee for children under 12 years of age.  It is an OMHA expectation that we collect gate fees.  Your team Manager will devise a schedule of gate-workers, we appreciate your help in managing this task.  If you cannot work your gate date, please arrange to switch and let your Manager know  J

Individual and Team Photos

As was the case last year, photos will be taken on the ice during each Divisions practice time the week of October 16th.  Team Managers will be handing out the order envelopes and they will be available from our website as well.  Please approach your bench-staff if you do not receive your order envelope.  Attached to the order envelope will be the Photographer’s business card. 

Please contact the Photographer (Darren Metcalfe) directly if there is a problem with your order, he is excellent at making any necessary corrections to your order.  Stay tuned to our website for dates and times for each division.

Spirit Wear

We will have samples of warm up suits, jackets, hoodies etc. on hand at the rink on Spirit Day – November 12, 2016.  This will be the only day you are able to view samples and speak to the staff from Planet Stitch about sizing etc.  Please check the website for details and ordering information.  More details to follow!

We are working on an exciting fundraising opportunity which will be strictly voluntary.   We are in the process of developing a calendar for 2017 for families to purchase which will showcase our team photos and have our schedules detailed during hockey season.  Our goal is to make it available for purchase by Spirit Day - November 12, 2016.  It will make a great stocking stuffer for Grandparents, friends and family members!. Please consider supporting the Hockey Parents Association in our efforts to generate revenue which assists us with keeping registration costs reasonable and providing our players with a memorable end of the year banquet as has been the tradition in past years.

Spirit Day

Our annual “Spirit Day” is planned for Saturday November 12, 2016.  It has gotten bigger and better with each passing year.  We are planning to host Lambton Shores Predators with all Divisions playing a home game starting at:

 2pm – Tykes 3pm – Novice  4pm Atom   5pm  Pee Wee  6pm Bantam  7:30pm Midget

The hope is that families/friend and community members will come out and support all divisions and enjoy a pep rally atmosphere.  There will be a couple of specific vendors available for some convenient “spirit wear” themed Christmas shopping. Stay tuned for more details!


PEMAA has committed to paying for one tournament for each division as well as $500.00 towards a second tournament if teams are interested in participating in two tournaments.  Your bench-staff in each respective division will be in touch with you regarding details of potential tournaments.  Enjoy this rich experience, our players tell us some of their best memories come from these weekends away with friend and family!.


If you have any questions, concerns, positive or constructive feedback,   Please do not hesitate to contact any member of the Point Minor.  We can be reached by email and contact information is clearly defined on our PEMAA website…If you have a complaint or issue you need addressed, we require the concern be forwarded in writing so it can be properly handled at the Board level. 

Please email the website if you are interested in getting involved in volunteering your time supporting our Program.  We like to have representation from each age group whenever possible. 

Finally, special thanks to all of our Coaches and Bench-staff.  They have been busy attending clinics and training, securing Criminal Reference Checks and planning games/practices.  Without their hard work and dedication, our Program would not be successful!  Please take time to convey your appreciation during the season.
