Dear Black Hawk Players and Families,

PEMAA extends a warm welcome to both new and returning families participating in our 2018/2019 Hockey Season!  We are looking forward to another exciting and successful season.  PEMAA promotes effective communication between Coaches, players and their families. We are busy organizing team and individual photos and have already begun planning the Year End banquet/award ceremony.  Our Year End banquet will be held on April 6, 2019 at our Community Hall – attached to the arena.  Details to follow…save the date!

This past summer, a few of you helped us run the “Meat Raffles” at Two Amigos bar throughout the months of July and August.  This was a labour intensive venture that would not have been successful without the support of our PEMAA Board Members and hockey parents.  The revenue generated from previous years meat raffles was used to purchase new jerseys for Novice- Midget and training aids for all divisions.

Cash Box Pick Up and Drop off Location

This year, the Cash Box will once again be kept at the Point Variety (on Michigan Avenue across from the Ex-Serviceman’s Club.  There will be a sign in/out sheet.  If you are assigned to the gate for a game, we need you to arrive at the arena one hour prior to game in order to catch the parents/fans from the opposing team.  As has been the case in prior years, Point Edward players and family members are not expected to pay an entry fee to cheer us on.  It is $4.00 for adults, seniors and students 12 and over pay a reduced fee – details in the cash box. Your team Manager will devise a schedule of gate-workers, we appreciate your help in managing this task.

Individual and Team Photos

As was the case last year, photos will be taken on the ice during each Divisions practice time.  Team Managers will be handing out the order envelopes and they will be available from our website as well.  Please approach your Manager if you do not receive your order envelope.  Attached to the order envelope will be the Photographer’s business card.  Please contact the Photographer (Darren Metcalfe) directly if there is a problem with your order, he is excellent at making any necessary corrections to your order.  Stay tuned to our website for dates and times for each division.

Spirit Wear

Each year, we partner with a local business to provide the opportunity to order Black Hawks “spirit wear” (toques, wind suits, hoodies etc.) Stay tuned for more info about your options to purchase Spirit Wear!

Spirit Day

For the past several years, we have hosted “Spirit Day”. It has become one of the most celebrated days of the season!  This year’s spirit day will be December 15th, with the goal being, all teams will have a home game scheduled…We will have a pep rally atmosphere, fun contests, pizza etc.  Again, stay tuned to our Facebook page and website as details unfold!

Tournaments

PEMAA has budgeted to allow each team Tyke-Midget to be allotted $1500.00 toward tournament registration fees.  Should a team wish to spend more than $1500 on tournament registration, The difference will be managed through team fundraising efforts ie; bottle drive or collecting money from each family.  Please run all fundraising ideas through us as we cannot participate in any raffles of any type as they require a lottery licence etc.

All Star Game

Last year, the Lambton Middlesex Local League did not have an All-Star Game.  Many of our Coaches, players and families passed along their disappointment.  For this reason, PEMAA has offered to host the All-Star Game again this year!  This was an enormous project in 2017 and we thoroughly enjoyed planning and preparing to show off our rink and our association.  We are looking for parent representatives who would like to get involved!  We will be posting an ad on our Facebook/website looking for energetic, creative, detail-oriented folks!

Housekeeping

If you have any questions, concerns, positive or constructive feedback, please do not hesitate to contact any PEMAA board member.  We can be reached by email (Contact Us) and will also be available by phone once you have established contact via email.

If you have a complaint or issue you need addressed, we require the concern be forwarded in writing, so it can be properly managed at the Board level.

Please email ([email protected]) if you are interested in getting more involved in supporting our Program.  We like to have representation from each age group whenever possible.  Our volunteers can help with Spirit Day, Year End banquet etc.

Finally, special thanks to all of our Coaches and Bench-staff.  They have been busy attending clinics and training, securing Criminal Reference Checks and planning games/practices.  Without their hard work and dedication, our Program would not be successful!  Please take time to convey your appreciation during the season. We are only as good as our Volunteers!

As always, please consult our website for updates and black-out dates.

Go Hawks!!
