The Bantam team faced stiff competition and battled throughout the whole weekend. The team's first game was a gritty match against the Sudbury Lakers, the story of the game was defence with a final score of 2-0. Owen Chute shut the door and started the tournament with a shutout. Goals scored by Logan Tardif and Daniel Luciani.
Later the same day, the Bantam's played a thriller of a game against the Orleans Rush. In spite of a strong 3-10 lead, an action movie type of 3rd period, saw us down 4 players and starting to run on fumes, we sputtered to a 4-3 loss. The game winning goal happening with a dramatic 5 seconds left on the clock. A terrific game between the pipes for Durham Langille. Goals scored by Justin Waun, Jason Caley, and Ethan Boucher. Unfortunately the action packed show ended in a bit of tear jerker.
Before the Bantam Blackhawks could make a quick stop at the local gas station, we were already on the road again squaring off against the Cumberland Dukes. Our team battled with what was left in the tank and capped off the tournament with a respectable 3-0 loss to the eventual tournament winners. It was a another stellar day at the office for Owen Chute that game.
Thank you to the whole bench staff and parents that supported us and braved the bitter freezing cold. You all helped make this weekend an awesome team bonding experience/tournament. Onto the Playoffs!
Go Hawks !
