Background\police checks.
For Anyone Volunteering with PEMAA or another
organization, your address dictates where you request your background check
(police check). Sarnia residents would access the Sarnia Police Website to fill
out the background check. Point Edward residents will contact the OPP. Please
note that the OPP indicates they are dealing with a 6-8 week backlog at this
time. All Coaches, bench staff, and on ice volunteers must have a valid police
check, including the vulnerable sector check! OMHA requires they be renewed\updated
every 3 years.
If you are still within your three years, you can sign a bench affidavit stating you have no convictions (must be provided every year between checks).
You can request an affidavit form by emailing: [email protected] and asking for a signed form.
The affidavit form will then be emailed to you and you can attach a copy along with your Enhanced Screening Criminal Reference Check.
It is important to note: All applications must be submitted online and at this time, only essential workers applications are being accepted. Stay tuned for updates as COVID restrictions continue to evolve.
